Sold-Out Comedy “Aging with Grace and Humor” Returns to Elgin for a Two-Day-Only Fundraiser Event!

By Natalie Kiburg

ELGIN, IL – Get ready for a night of big laughs, relatable moments and ageless community spirit! The Gail Borden Public Library Foundation is thrilled to announce the return of “Aging with Grace and Humor,” a hilarious and heartwarming staged reading that tackles the ups, downs and absurdities of growing older.

After a completely sold-out, two-night run back in 2021, this beloved production is back for a limited time at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20 at the Gail Borden Public Main Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin IL, 60120.

Written by well-known Elgin area community leaders Sylvia Grady and Cherie Murphy, the play delivers a light-hearted, insightful look at the universal challenges of aging. This year’s highly anticipated two-day revival brings together an all-star cast of five prominent local figures Sylvia Grady, Cherie Murphy, Mark Seigle, Karen Fox and Jerry Turnquist—guaranteeing a performance packed with local charm, sharp wit and genuine connection.

“We are ecstatic to bring this incredible show back to the Elgin community,” said Sylvia Grady. “When it premiered in 2021 as a fundraiser for Senior Services Associates, the response was overwhelming, and both nights were sold out. We are thrilled and hoping to receive the same community response again, this time to benefit the Gail Borden Public Library Foundation.”

The hilarious piece proves that laughter is truly the best medicine, no matter your age.

Cast member and Library Foundation board member, Karen Fox noted that the ideal audience is, “For anyone who is old - or plans to be.” Both current and future seniors can relate to the topics and turmoils of aging adults. “Sylvia and Cherie have even added some updates since we performed this five years ago,” Fox added. “Even if you’ve seen this before, these changes, especially related to technology, will be a fun new experience for repeat viewers.”
