Branch Services Clerk

If you enjoy providing top-notch customer service and want to join our versatile Rakow Branch Services team, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are looking for a customer-focused, creative and enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal skills who can master a variety of tasks in a busy environment. The mix of duties includes assisting customers with computer applications, printing, self-check, DVD dispenser, eReader and other mobile devices, as well as, assisting with library programs, material handling, and shelving.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous customer service experience preferred
  • Experience working with children a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with basic computer applications
  • Bilingual Spanish/English language skills a plus

18 hours per week at the Rakow Branch library.

Schedule includes weekday, evening and weekend hours.

Hourly Rate:  $12.65 per hour

Collection Services Clerk 

 Come join our diligently busy Access Services Department! We are looking for a detail-oriented, friendly, and enthusiastic individual to join our team. On a daily basis, new materials arrive at our Library for customer check-out. This year, 40,000+ items were added to our collections!  When new items arrive, they must be processed and individually added into our computerized Integrated Library System before they are ready for check-out.

The mix of duties for this position includes:

  • Receiving shipments of new materials, checking for damage, and matching shipments to invoices to ensure delivery accuracy 
  • Invoicing library acquisitions by identifying correct order records, ensuring proper billing
  • Creating and printing work slips for materials
  • Running lists and placing holds for Fan Club
  • Running lists for DVD extractions and receiving disks from the Media Banks and Media Box
  • Monitoring hotspot due dates to turn service on/off for overdue devices
  • Solving practical problems dealing with material orders and deliveries

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be detail-oriented with above average attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge and experience working with basic computer applications and previous experience with Sierra software is preferred
  • Ability to bend, stoop, lift and carry boxes weighing up to 40 pounds

Part-Time: 28 hours per week; Monday – Friday daytime hours
Hourly Rate:  $15.16per hour + participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund +  prorated time-off benefits

Administrative Assistant 

Gail Borden Public Library has an immediate opening for a part-time Administrative Assistant in the Administration Office at the Main Library. This position assists with standard and daily activities of Administration in support of the Executive Director. The ideal candidate must be friendly, reliable, accurate, and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.  The individual must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.  The ability to maintain confidentiality is a requirement with this position.

Some of the responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Answering and making phone calls
  • Assisting with maintaining administrative databases and files
  • Attending monthly Board Meetings as back-up
  • Assisting in the preparation of Library Board Packets
  • Assisting with Freedom of Information requests
  • Assisting with records retention management

Qualifications:

  • Two years of college or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of three years of general office experience in an administrative position
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work with various levels of staff
  • Availability to work an evening shift the 2nd Tuesday of the month

Part-Time: 25 hours per week (Monday - Friday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm,  3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on the second Tuesday of every month)

Hourly Rate: $15.16 per hour + participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund + prorated time-off benefits
