KidSpace Administrative Assistant

Gail Borden Public Library has an immediate opening for a part-time Administrative Assistant in the KidSpace Department. The ideal individual for this position must be reliable, accurate, and detail-oriented. In addition, the successful candidate will be a cheerful self-starter and have strong organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. The candidate must enjoy working in a busy environment and with children from 3-12 years old.

 

       Some of the responsibilities of this position include:

  • Providing support for KidSpace programs
  • Booking group visits to the library
  • Submitting entries to our online events calendar
  • Maintaining department records
  • Tabulating statistics and creating reports
  • Organizing our Resource Room and maintaining supplies
  • Administrative support for short and long term projects

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent and general office experience.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent reasoning ability and mathematical skills
  • Ability to type/keyboard with above average attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a high-energy, ever-changing environment

 

Part-time:18 hours per week (mostly morning hours; afternoon, evening and weekends for special events)

Hourly Rate:$13.85 per hour

ReaderShip Assistant 

 Are you a friendly, outgoing person? Do you look forward to performing in front of an audience? If you are energized by serving the public and working with children and families, this is a great opportunity. Gail Borden Public Library is looking for a ReaderShip Assistant to join the Community Service and Program Development Division. As ReaderShip Assistant, you will be responsible for delivering storytimes and other programs to children and families in both English and Spanish. The ideal candidate must have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, a flexible schedule and be reliable. This position is based at the Main Library but involves delivering programs throughout various locations in the library district.

The mix of duties includes:

  • Assembling and presenting storykits
  • Preparing and presenting storytime programs in English and Spanish at preschools, daycare centers, and community events with children and families
  • Assisting the ReaderShip Associate with planning and presenting parent education sessions related to children’s books, reading, and library services
  • Attending community events and meetings, representing the Library in a positive and professional manner

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Must have successful experience working with young children in group settings
  • Ability to drive a vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and a good driving record
  • Must have knowledge and experience with basic computer applications and mobile devices

18 hours per week; schedule is mostly weekdays, however, it may include some evening and weekend hours depending on scheduled events

Hourly Rate: $15.16 per hour
