Donuts with Dinosaurs and Paleo-Artist
Lonny Stark –
Meeting Rooms A, B, and C. Advance registration is
required. Space is limited.
Bring a parent or adult friend to join Lonny Stark for
donuts, stories, songs, and cool take-home crafts.
Please note: Each child attending this event must be
accompanied by an adult caregiver. Strollers and
siblings will not be permitted in the room.

Einstein’s scientific principles exciting. This
show is designed to spark interest in science and
encourage learning—great for school projects!

Sculpture in Pre-history with Jeff Mishur (Grades

This slide lecture with Art Historian Jeff Mishur takes
a detailed look at selected examples of prehistoric art
including the famous Venus of Willendorf and the Lascaux
cave paintings.

It’s
a bird – no-- it’s a dinosaur! Fossil hunter Mark Kuntz
will introduce the latest theory about dinosaurs and
their relationship to modern day birds. He’ll show
evidence using real fossil specimens.

Norman Ruiz

Norman Ruiz will perform classical guitar music of Latin
America and Spain written by famous composers such as
Albeniz, Ponce, Brouwer and Tarrega. This acclaimed
soloist and teacher performs throughout the Chicago area
and has soloed with various symphony orchestras. He
studied with Pepe Romero, Oscar Ghilia and was chosen to
participate in a master class with the famous Andres
Segovia.

join writer Tom Gardner to write tales of adventure in
the science fiction realm. Bring your own notebook with
any ideas for interesting settings and fascinating

Dino Mite Piano! - Meeting
Rooms
Dr.
Kimm Hollis, Professor of Piano and Chair of the Music
Department at Hanover College (IN), presents a piano
recital dedicated to dinosaurs! Joining him for
musical duets will be Carole Medal, Director of the Gail
Borden Public Library.
Focus on Fossils presented by the Elgin Public Museum
(Grades 2-6) - Meeting
Rooms A and B. Registration Required.
Fossils hold the answers to dinosaurs, ancient plants
and sea creatures. Examine a variety of fossils,
including trilobites, teeth, bone, footprints and
coprolites. Through an interactive story, they
will learn how fossils are made, how climate and geology
have changed through time and what rock types commonly
contain fossils. To register, please call the

Pat Armstrong, a Member of “Wild Ones”, a
not-for-profit national educational organization using
native plant species who will talk about ferns and other
plants which provide natural landscaping.
Working a Dig with Joe Peterson
(Family Program) - Meeting Room C
Joe
Peterson will host the showing our tour clip of Giants
Found. He will share his experiences of working on
digs, show us his collection of bone casts and
demonstrate through his drawings - the different dinos
and their sizes.
Halloween Weekend Movie
Enjoy popcorn and a popular dinosaur favorite movie
about a long neck dinosaur in the Land Before Time. Come
in costume!
Halloween Trick or Treat the
Dinosaurs
Visit the library in costume for a special treat at
three of the dinosaurs – Jobaria, Afrovenator and
Deltadromeus. Discover special facts about your favorite
dinosaurs. Show off your costume to get a treat.
