Youth Center
The Youth Center serves children in first through fifth grades. The Middle School Zone, which is located within the Youth Center, serves children and teens in sixth through eighth grades.

Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Audiovisual – DVDs, CDs, video games, and audiobooks are available to  check out. DVDs and video games are shelved in the Music Movies and More room. CDs and audiobooks are shelved in the Youth Center.

Aquarium – Come and look at the fish and turtle in our aquarium! 

Books – A variety of fiction and non-fiction books in both English and Spanish are available for readers in 1st through 8th grades. Magazines are also available to read at the library or check out.

Computers – Our computers feature Microsoft Office, internet access, our online library catalog, and electronic resources. The computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis for thirty-minute sessions.  

Creation Station – A craft is available every day for children in 1st grade and older. (Crafts for younger children can be found in the Early Learning Center.) Each child may have one craft per day at no charge. Coloring sheets are available as well.

iPads - Four iPads are available for children to use inside the Youth Center. iPad sessions are limited to thirty minutes when others are waiting.

Globe – Locate Illinois as well as many other states and countries on our giant globe.

Kits – Books with a CD are available for check out.

Library Cards – Parents can decide when they want their children to have a library card. Please see a staff member at the Registration Desk at Circulation to apply for your free library card today. Restrictions may apply.

Programs – We offer a wide variety of programs for children of all ages, including one-time special events as well as repeating programs. Please see our paper monthly calendars or the library's online event calendar for detailed program information.

Resource Room – Adults are welcome to use our resource room, which contains an Ellison Die machine, laminator, paper cutter, and sewing machine. Fees are required for use of some equipment. Please bring your own paper and supplies. Please see a staff member in the Youth Center for more information.

Study Rooms – Need a quiet place to study? We have three study rooms available for youth to use on a first come, first served basis. Please see a staff member at the Youth Center Desk.  

Toys – A variety of learning toys and games are available for check out, including science kits.
