Educator Cards

Educators at schools within the Gail Borden Public Library District are eligible for an educator card.  An educator card allows you to check out up to 60 items for classroom use. Information about the card is sent to schools at the start of each school year.

NEW PROCEDURE:To get their educator cards, educators simply visit the Registration Desk at the Main Library or Rakow Branch with their photo ID (such as a driver's license) and proof of employment (school ID badge, paystub, or class roster).

The check-out period for most items is 28 days. PLEASE NOTE: OVERDUE ITEMS CHECKED OUT ON EDUCATOR CARDS ACCRUE EXTENDED USE FEES. The educator is responsible for lost or damaged materials.

Classroom Collections

Library staff will select up to 30 items for you to check out on your educator card. Requests should be submitted at least 48 hours, but no more than seven days, before you plan to pick up your items. Classroom collections may be picked up at the Main Library's Youth Center Help Desk, the Rakow Branch, or the South Elgin Branch. They may not be picked up at any location’s drive-up windows.

Call in a request to the Youth Help Desk (847-429-4685) or fill out an online form.
