Computer Center Assistant

The Main Library location has a part-time position available in our Computer Center.  We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, dedicated to excellent customer service, and passionate about working with all members of the community.  

Primary job duties include:

  • Providing excellent customer service to library users.
  • Assisting customers with logging into computers, accessing websites, and formatting documents.
  • Assisting customers with printing from PCs and mobile devices, scanning, copying, and faxing.
  • Preparing devices and the Computer Training Room for classes.
  • Maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for library users.
  • Data entry.

 

Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service environment.
  • Hands-on experience using desktop/laptop computers, mobile devices, software, and apps.
  • Successful completion of a computer skills assessment test.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish language skills preferred.

 

Part-Time: 18 hours per week; schedule subject to change and may include day, evening, and weekend hours.

Pay Rate:  $18.00 per hour + Prorated Time-Off Benefits.

Director of Collection Development

Qualifications:

  • MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited school.
  • Minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible library experience, including collection development and supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of technology including Microsoft Office, mobile devices, apps, and other software.
  • Must have a collaborative mindset to be able to work with other staff.
  • Knowledge of Innovative Interfaces Sierra ILS and experience with Collection HQ preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance.

Full-time, exempt position (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: $75,855-$85,000 – Dependent on experience and qualifications + Excellent benefits package including: vacation time, sick time, floating holiday time, personal time, 8 paid holidays, IMRF, life insurance, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, and several optional benefits.

Maintenance Technician II

Gail Borden Public Library has an immediate opening for a full-time Maintenance Technician. This position requires a strong background in building, grounds, electrical, plumbing and equipment, operations, and maintenance. The incumbent will perform and assist staff and vendors with the overall monitoring, upkeep, and maintenance of GBPLD facilities and grounds.

The mix of duties for this position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Completes special projects including building repairs, small-scale construction projects and other tasks essential to the smooth operation of all library locations.
  • Performs routine and scheduled general maintenance activities, including but not limited to, light bulb replacement, ceiling tile replacement, electrical, plumbing, drywall, and painting.
  • Maintains collaborative working relations with staff, customers, and outside organizations to provide a safe and welcoming library environment.

Qualifications: 

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in this area is required.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Good people skills to be able to collaborate effectively with other staff in the Maintenance Department and throughout the other departments.

37.5 hours per week (Full-Time) – may include days, nights, and weekend hours.          

Pay Rate:  $23.00 to $25.00 per hour - Dependent on experience and qualifications + Excellent benefits including: vacation time, sick time, floating holiday time, personal time, 8 paid holidays, pension plan, life insurance, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance.
