Customer Relations Clerk

Gail Borden Public Library has a part-time position available in our fast-paced Customer Relations Department at our Main Library facility.  The individual for this position must have excellent communication and customer service skills, the ability to problem-solve and analyze customer needs and enjoy providing top-notch service to library customers.

 

Primary job duties include:

  • Performing library material check-in and check-outs, renewals, holds, customer library card registrations and license plate renewals in accordance with established library policies and procedures
  • Providing information to customers, answering questions, and being proactive with offering assistance in a friendly and professional manner
  • Using technology and digital resources to assist patrons with electronic platforms

 

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A real “people Person”, enthusiastic, caring, friendly, and empathetic
  • A team player who thinks quickly on their feet as decisions need to be made
  • A self-starter with the initiative and courage to propose new ideas

 

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Some knowledge of library clerical procedures and practices
  • Experience in a customer service environment
  • Basic math skills and ability to alphabetize
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred

 

18 hours per week– combination of days, nights, and weekend hours         

Hourly Rate:  $13.16 per hour

Web Applications Specialist

Gail Borden Public Library is looking for an individual who has interest in and experience with developing and managing websites and web applications. This full-time position is in the Library Applications Department at the Main Library. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and detail-oriented with demonstrable experience in web development and website management with a touch of web design skills to support content creators.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining the library’s web services running on the Joomla platform
  • Enforcing standards and consistency in layout and information architecture for the internal and external websites
  • Providing guidance to library staff in implementing new Library Applications systems

Key Qualifications:

  • Two years of college with technical or advanced coursework in computer science, or three years of combined education and experience which provides the skills needed for effective job performance
  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript coding skills, as well as experience with responsive web design
  • Knowledge of user experience best practices and web conventions
  • Ability to configure and maintain a CMS platform
  • Ability to configure and maintain a hosted website
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential
    • Knowledge of PHP and other web programming languages a plus

 

Schedule:  Full-time 37.5 hours per week; Monday–Friday flexible, daytime hours

Salary:  $52,104 per year DOQ + Excellent Benefits

Finance Assistant

Are you a “numbers” person? Gail Borden Public Library is looking for a part-time Finance Assistant to work onsite in the Finance Department at the Main Library location. The individual must be reliable, accurate, detail-oriented and be able to adapt to change quickly and positively.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Cash handling and account reconciliation
  • Preparing bank deposits including transport to the local bank
  • Assist with monthly board remittances and mailings
  • Financial data entry
  • Spreadsheet preparation
  • Setting up vendor accounts
  • Ordering and maintaining office supply inventory

Intermediate knowledge of Excel is required. Candidate must have good interpersonal skills to interact with all levels within the organization, as well as with vendors.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in accounting and/or business including cash reconciliation and purchasing functions
  • Must be proficient with internet use, Microsoft Word & Excel, adding machine use, and accurate data entry
  • Detail-minded with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Must be a team-player with the ability to adapt to change to routines and workflows
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record (driving record history will be requested upon hire)  

Part-time:  15 hours per week; 3 days per week, Mon – Fri between the hours of 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

                (additional hours and/or schedule changes may be required around library board meeting

                dates or end-of-month reconciliation periods)      

Hourly Rate:  $17.28 per hour + prorated Personal Time and Floating Holiday time off benefits
