Join our dynamic and engaging team as a KidSpace Page! This role provides basic assistance to library customers in the youth area of our Main Library.
In this role, you will:
- Provide basic assistance to customers at the KidSpace Help Desk.
- Maintain the condition of toys and materials.
- Help prepare materials for programs and activities.
- Ensure the KidSpace area remains welcoming and clean.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Comfortable interacting with customers, especially children, and be able to deliver outstanding service.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions.
- Basic knowledge of computers, printing, email.
- Ability to perform basic math tasks and handle small payments.
15 hours per week; schedule may include day, evening, and weekend hours.
Schedule: Tuesday 5:00-9:00pm, Wednesday 5:00-9:00pm, Thursday 4:30-9:00pm, every other Sunday from 12:00am-5:00pm. Schedule is subject to change.

Branch Children’s Services Manager
Gail Borden Public Library is looking for a dynamic, positive, creative, and experienced Librarian to join our versatile, cross-trained Branch Library Services Department to oversee and lead our Children’s Services team at two vibrant branch libraries. The successful individual in this position will be a reliable, motivated, and energetic team player who makes customers feel at home and can be an exemplary Person-in-Charge when needed.
In this role you will:
- Lead and manage Branch Programming Associates, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Oversee Children’s Areas at the Rakow Branch and South Elgin Branch, ensuring engaging and well-maintained spaces for children and families.
- Develop and oversee high-quality children’s and family programming at both branches.
- Participate in Branch Library Services Management Team to align services and programs with the library’s mission.
Qualifications:
- MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited library school.
- Minimum 3 years of increasingly responsible experience in a public library position including supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated success in planning, implementing, and evaluating children’s and family programs.
- Knowledge of early literacy principles, child development, and trends in library services for children and families.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.
- Must have reliable transportation to be able to drive between the Branches.
- Bilingual Spanish/English language skills a plus
Full-time position (37.5 hours/week) split between both Branch locations. Schedule may include weekday, evening, and weekend hours.
Salary: $63,063 - $66,216 per year. Offers are made within this range based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Click here for benefit information.
