Information Services Library Associate

Gail Borden Public Library has a part-time position available at the public Information Desk in the Information Services Department at the Main Library location. Candidates for this position must meet the criteria as required by the U.S. Department of State.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Works with a team to provide excellent customer service
  • Responds to customer inquiries for information, books, and other materials
  • Serves as U.S. Passport Acceptance Agent*
  • Refers questions to a librarian as appropriate
  • Promotes library services
  • Assists customers with technology
  • Answers phone calls

 

*Eligibility requirements to become a U.S. Passport Acceptance Agent:

  • U.S. citizen or a U.S. non-citizen national
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Does not have a record of either: (i) A Federal or State felony conviction; or (ii) A misdemeanor conviction for crimes involving moral turpitude or breach of trust, including but not limited to embezzlement, identity theft, misappropriation, document fraud, drug offenses, or dishonesty in carrying out a responsibility involving public trust.

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Knowledge of technology including Microsoft Office, smartphones, tablets, and computers
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Spanish fluency a plus

 

Part-Time: 24 hours per week including days, evenings, and weekends. Schedule may vary from   week to week and is generally four shifts per week. 

Hourly Rate:  $17.28+ IMRF and Prorated Paid Time Off Benefits

Digital Services Library Clerk 

The Gail Borden Public Main Library has a part-time position available at the public Computer Center Desk in the Digital Services Department.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with a team to provide excellent customer service
  • Assisting customers with logging into computers, accessing websites, and formatting documents
  • Assisting customers with printing, scanning, copying, and faxing
  • Preparing devices and the Computer Training Room for classes
  • Maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for library users
  • Data entry
  • Promoting library services
  • Answering phone calls and providing in-person directional assistanceto library users

 

Other Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent 
  • Good clerical and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must be a “people” person and have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Spanish language skills are a plus

 

Part-Time: 12 hours per week; schedule subject to change and may include day, evening, and weekend hours.

Hourly Rate: $14.41 per hour
