Preservation Matters!
Local Preservation Month is sponsored in collaboration with the City of Elgin’s Heritage Commission and the Elgin Area Historical Society.
Preservation Matters! is the theme for this year’s Preservation Month based on the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
In today’s fast-paced, high-tech, disposable society it is more important then ever to remain dedicated to preserving our past. So join in the celebration of preservation efforts through activities, programs, tours and lectures during the month of May and discover why Preservation should matter to you!
You may be wondering if preservation really does matter to the City of Elgin. The answer is a resounding yes! The City of Elgin is committed to maintain the architectural and cultural heritage of our past as we move forward. Preserving where Elgin came from through buildings and cultural experiences saves our past for all to enjoy today and in the future. Every day the City reaffirms its commitment to preservation through grant programs, code enforcement, design guideline applications and redevelopment opportunities.
