
Baby's First Library Card
Available to Gail Borden Public Library District residents.
Congratulations! You've taken the first step in supporting your baby’s early literacy development. Your NEW baby's library card will be activated within two weeks of your enrollment. You can use it to check out books, ebooks, music, and all other materials available at the library.

Baby's First Library Visit
Baby’s First Library Visit is a FREE class designed especially for My First Library Card holders.*
- Receive special community gifts, such as a board book and a handmade blanket!
- Learn about programs for you & baby.
- Photo-op.
- Make new friends!
Bring baby and baby’s library card to any of the upcoming *Welcome Baby sessions. Registration preferred.
*Baby’s First Library Visits are currently on hold at the Main Library due to the KidSpace remodel. To accommodate families who could not attend during this time, all babies born during the redesign period will be eligible for Baby’s First Library Visit for an extended six months beyond their first birthday.
*Please attend Baby’s First Library Visit within one year of baby’s birth.

Who is eligible to get a Baby’s First Library Card?
Starting May 11, 2014, every baby who is a resident of the Gail Borden Public Library District is eligible for a Baby’s First Library Card through the Welcome Baby program.
I live in the Gail Borden Public Library District, but my baby was not born at Advocate Sherman. Can I apply for a Baby’s First Library Card?
YES. Please register and attend a Baby's First Library Visit and learn how to apply for a baby library card. Only babies birth through twelve months are eligible at this time.
I live outside of the Gail Borden Public Library District, but my baby was born at Advocate Sherman Hospital. Can I apply for a Baby’s First Library Card?
NO. Currently, only Gail Borden Public Library District residents are eligible. Please contact your home library for more information on baby library cards and programs for babies.
I have Baby’s First Library Card. How do I get my FREE gift?
You may attend any Baby’s First Library Visit session within the first year after your baby’s birth.
