Welcome Baby Library Card
Available to Gail Borden Library District residents.
Congratulations! You've taken the first step in supporting your baby’s early literacy development.
Sign up for a Welcome Baby Library Card at Advocate Sherman Hospital* or by visiting Customer Relations at Gail Borden Library's Main location. The Welcome Baby Library Card can be used to check out books, eBooks, music, and all other materials available at the library.
* If you apply for a card at Advocate Sherman, your baby's library card will be activated within two weeks of your enrollment.
Welcome Baby Visit
A Welcome Baby visit is an introductory visit to the library designed especially for Welcome Baby Library Card holders. This visit can be done during the first year of your baby's life.
- Receive special community gifts such as a book bag and a handmade blanket!
- Learn about programs and library materials for you and your baby.

Who is eligible to get a Welcome Baby Library Card?
Every baby who is a resident of the Gail Borden Library District is eligible for a Welcome Baby Library Card.
I live in the Gail Borden Public Library District, but my baby was not born at Advocate Hospital. Can I apply for a Welcome Baby Library Card?
Yes! Please come to the Main Library to apply for a Welcome Baby Library Card. Only babies' birth through twelve months are eligible currently.
I live outside the Gail Borden Public Library District, but my baby was born at Advocate Sherman Hospital. Can I apply for a Baby’s First Library Card?
No. Only Gail Borden Public Library District residents are eligible. Please contact your home library for more information on baby library cards and programs for babies.
I have Welcome Baby Library Card. How do I get my Welcome Baby gift?
