Starting this Monday, June 15, Gail Borden Public Library cardholders age 14 and up can make an appointment to use a computer at the Main Library at 270 N. Grove, Elgin, IL.  With both safety and community need in mind, Library Trustees and staff have discussed and are moving forward on a plan to protect safety of staff and customers while creating computer access.  This arrangement will create an opportunity for people to file for unemployment, taxes and to participate in the Census.  But access will not be limited to these uses.

To make an appointment, people should call 847-742-2411. The hours for appointments are Monday-Thursday 9 am - 9 pm, Friday and Saturday 9 am - 6 pm and Sunday noon - 5 pm.  Reservations can be made 7 days in advance.Computers sessions will be available for a maximum time period of 2 hours.

Customers with an appointment will be required to wear a mask and the computers will be cleaned between uses.  Plexiglass has been added to the computer center and the seating is socially distanced.
