Summer Reading Challenge

May 15 – July 31

Watch the Gail Borden train climb the hill at the Main Library to celebrate 150 years of reading at the Library and know that you can finish the summer reading challenge!


Prizes

Readers of all ages can participate in the summer reading challenge and receive prizes just for finishing such as local business coupons. Children 8th grade and under also receive a free book! 

Everyone 12th grade and under receives a coupon to swim FREE one time at either Wing Park or Lords Park between July 1 and August 11!

Grand prize drawings for prizes such as a Board book & puzzle bundle, a DUPLO set, Squishmallows, gift cards, and more!

 

This year’s summer reading Family Adventure Prize will be a party at the Centre of Elgin. Families that complete summer reading will get a chance to enter the drawing for this adventure!

 

Summer reading finishers can pick up their prizes at any library location from July 1 to July 31.


150th Anniversary Old Towne Fair & Summer Reading Kickoff

Games, Prizes, Food and Fun: Celebrate 150 Years with Us!

Main Library | Saturday, 6/8 | 1 – 5 pm

Come one, come all to the greatest fair in 150 years! Enjoy tasty and free treats while supplies last. Ride the carousel, visit the petting zoo and play vintage games. Win fun prizes. Sign up for the 2024 Summer Reading Challenge.

Timed-entry tickets for carousel rides will be distributed upon fair entrance.
